Not Fade Away

I'm a-gonna tell you how it's gonna be
You're gonna give your love to me
I wanna love you night and day
You know my love a-not fade away
A-well, you know my love a-not fade away

The Innocent Age

Back at the start it was easy to see
No one to own to, nowhere to be
Deep in the heartlands a sad memory calls to me

Fretful horizons, worrisome skies
Tearful misgivings burning your eyes
Yearnings unanswered, reckon the wage you
Pay to recapture the innocent age

-Dan Fogelberg (1981)
 dedicated to Buffalo Springfield

One After 909

My baby says she's trav'ling on the one after 909
I said move over honey I'm travelling on that line
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice
I said I'm trav'ling on the one after 909

I begged her not to go and I begged her on my bended knees
You're only fooling around, you're fooling around with me
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice
I said I'm trav'ling on the one after 909

I got my bag, run to the station
Railman says you've got the the wrong location
I got my bag, run right home
Then I find I've got the number wrong

On Squirrel Hill

At the highest point on Squirrel Hill,
Wind was whistling,
Whistling a tune my heart obeys
And at the highest point of Squirrel hill,
I am counting backwards
I suppose I'm counting back the days

From the highest point on Squirrel Hill,
I see everything,
Every little piece becomes complete
I look out the way I never looked in childhood days
When all my hanging head saw was my feet

Walking a changing line,
Like the one between the sea and shore
I use that memory now, for an easy smile
My heart goes rushing through those open doors

-Jules Shear (1987)

A Heart In New York

New York
To that tall skyline I come
Flyin' in from London
To your door

New York
Lookin' down on Central Park
Where they say you should not wander after dark

New York
Like a scene from all those movies
But you're real enough to me
There's a heart
A heart that lives in New York

A heart in New York, a rose on the street
I write my song to that city heartbeat
A heart in New York, the love in her eyes
An open door and a friend for the night

-B.Gallagher,G.Lyle (1981)

Come Home

You built this house
You built it stone by stone
Hammer in your hand
You build this home

This house is strong
You raised it with your love
A shelter from the winds
From the cold and dark

And nobody has to cry to make it seem real
And nobody has to hide the way that they feel
If you stay right here tomorrow you'll be fine
I will be here for you standing by your side
So come home, come home

Stage Fright

Now deep in the heart of a lonely kid
Who suffered so much for what he did,
They gave this ploughboy his fortune and fame,
Since that day he ain't been the same.

See the man with the stage fright
Just standing up there to give it all his might.
And he got caught in the spotlight,
But when we get to the end
He wants to start all over again.

-Robbie Robertson (1970)

Paradise

Can you tell me just one thing?
If love is a longing
Possession won't kill
What would you own?

Thank you for believing
I wish that I could tell you
Something better than a love song
To ease your worried mind

You know I always believed
It's like Jesus told the thief
And you will be with me
Today in paradise
